Mads do & Mend CIC
To empower people and communities to mend their clothes and mend themselves through craft and creativity
Through Mads Do & Mend CIC, we empower individuals and communities to explore the power of craft and creativity. By learning to mend, make and repair, we create opportunities for people to express themselves, discover new skills, build connections and experience the value of creative health. We believe everyone deserves the space, freedom and encouragement to be creative, while recognising the positive impact learning skills and exploring creative expression can have on people, communities and the world around us.
Mending Projects
Through our pilot &Mend Clothing Repair Station in 2022 and first public community mending workshop, we began to discover just how much more mending could offer. By listening to participants, learning from their experiences and understanding what people and communities wanted and needed, we recognised that our work could reach far beyond practical repair skills.
These early experiences became the foundation for where Mads Do & Mend CIC is today, shaping our approach to community engagement, creative health and the power of making together.
Through community projects, workshops and partnerships with other organisations, we aim to make craft and creativity accessible to everyone. We create welcoming, inclusive and supportive spaces where people feel safe to explore, experiment and express themselves without fear of judgement. Everyone is encouraged to take part in their own way, learn at their own pace and enjoy the process without pressure, expectation or the need to achieve a particular outcome.
Whether mending a much-loved garment, learning a new skill or simply enjoying the process of making, we believe creativity can help people discover confidence, connection and a greater sense of agency in their lives.
“By encouraging through the practical craft of sewing, mending, and renewal we can dramatically reduce our own textile consumption and work towards more sustainable practices..”
